"Don't grab the rope" - Alternatives to punishment when behviour goes off track - Auckland

We often hear of staff struggling with children whose behaviour is frequently disruptive and that "nothing works" with these particular children. In a sense, staff have 'hit a wall' and reached the limits of traditional discipline methods: even consequences like time out may have limited impact in changing behaviour.

So we are very pleased that Cath Schofield from Oaklynn Special School has put together this workshop to give you some alternatives that are more likely to help get children back on track and better in tune with programme expectations.

Some of you will know Cath from the very valuable workshop she facilitates on children with autism in OSCAR. In this session she will use practical OSCAR scenarios to illustrate a range of approaches that are effective for all children, drawing on her considerable experiences with very challenging children in her own practice. Expect lots of discussion and the chance to discuss situations from your own programme.
